Stumptown Art Studio is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, established 1995 in Whitefish Montana. All proceeds from sales at the Ceramics Annex go directly towards art programs for children and adults. Stumptown Art Studio is made possible by the support of our community through memberships, donations, volunteers, grant attainments and fundraisers. Adults and children may take classes in fine arts, pottery, sketching, painting, sculpture, ceramics, glass fusing and more. Under one roof, this all encompassing art studio also offers art gallery space, an artist co-op, workshops, lectures, and provides hands on art activities for local and regional community events.
Stumptown Art Studio is providing a place in Montana for people of all ages to experience art. Overwhelming community wide support for art classes as well as requests for classroom instruction in our area schools has steadily grown for the past 12 years. There is a strong and urgent need for opportunities that offer alternative choices for adolescent activity and expression.
Stumptown Art Studio believes creativity is an essential part of being human. We see art as an adventure. Art experiences contribute to the expressive development of each and every soul. Awareness of art in different cultures fosters insight into value systems and beliefs, helping us to better understand and appreciate one another. By nurturing creativity in children, a child learns self awareness, builds confidence and gains independence. As an adult these qualities translate into creative problem solving, introspection and tolerance. Our adult workshops continually offer new and exciting techniques to remain imaginative. Stumptown Art Studio provides the resources to expand the knowledge of art and it’s influence in our everyday lives for people of all ages. |
